The Le Onde scarf is part of the ‘Recollection’ collection. This playful design takes inspiration from the idea of memories. The vibrancy and simple use of primary colours reflect the memories of joy and innocence from my own childhood. Interwoven within the cloth are strands of yarn to create a depth and strikingly energetic pattern that, like a memory, evolves and develops.
Made by hand and woven in the studio, the double cloth technique allows for the scarf to be reversible. Each scarf is delicately soft from the use of Merino lambswool, making it a staple for those cold and frosty mornings.
100% Merino Lambswool
Hand-made & hand-finished
Approx 28x170cm.
The story behind the design
The Recollection Collection utilises the concept of drawing without conscious thought. This collection is bursting to the brim with colour and each design has a signature bold style of urban geometric. To add depth and complexity, each piece is woven using a double cloth technique.
The design of each scarf is based upon the childhood memories of listening to Ludovico Einaudi’s classical compositions. Each hand-crafted piece is an expression of how this distinctive music enveloped key moments of my childhood.
Emotion encapsulates our memories and shapes our future. Within this collection, I wanted to capture the true emotion felt whilst listening to Einaudi’s music. My intention was to create an item that has the ability to connect with and become part of the world, making the cloth tangible and everlasting.
The Salt scarf is part of the ‘Pause’ collection. The colours are based on the spectrum of blues within the sea and across the sky. Made by hand in the studio, the myriad of woven textures, namely; wool, linen and cotton, encapsulates the varied seasons of a summer day in Scotland.
Hand-made & hand-finished
Approx 160cm x 42cm.
The story behind the collection
A national lockdown in the United Kingdom began on 23rd March 2020. Through the process of weaving, I found an escape and release from the uncertainties.
It was during these initial months that I was inspired to create the Pause collection.
Subconsciously, I routinely transported myself to the long summer days, infinite beaches and vast landscape of Oban in Scotland. This Northern harbour town holds host to an eclectic array of memories, having been my summer destination for the past 14 years. The misty hues of blue peering through the lingering morning mist contrasted in my mind with the intense brilliance of the late evening sunsets over the expansive waters. I have tried to convey this depth of colour and intimacy with the environment within the collection. Ultimately, it was through the creation of these items that I have never felt freer, or more at peace.
The Run scarf is part of the ‘Recollection’ collection. Brilliance and fun exude from this design, amplified by the distinctive repeats of a playful pattern and striped texture. The distinctive use of wool woven together in short runs creates a luxurious scarf that has a myriad of textures.
Made by hand and woven in the studio, the double cloth technique allows for the scarf to be reversible. The delicate Merino lambswool forms a versatile cloth that is the perfect sustainable companion to any wardrobe.
Each scarf has a completely unique design.
