With one loom and a shelf of yarn, LH Woven Designs began in 2019 to share my love and creation of woven cloth. Surrounded by the glacial valleys of the Lake District and birds of the Solway, the small business is based in North Cumbria and founded by myself, Lydia Hurley. 

As a designer maker, a continual aim is to create elements that are inspired by memories. Each piece is handmade, with a story, before being sent to you. Upon taking ownership it is my hope that these stories can be developed as each cloth acts as a catalyst for the formation of new memories. This connection with cloth, I believe, is an important part of the textile’s heritage. 

The business was founded around the lifecycle of cloth. As a weaver, it is important for each craft to be influenced by the colours and textures of our world. The use of natural fibres, predominantly wool, ensures that each craft is unique and, like our surroundings, has the ability to evolve and change. Eventually, these fibres have the ability to completely biodegrade. This provides nutrients to our environment and enables a symbiotic relationship between the manmade and the organic.
