About

LH Woven Designs began in 2019 with one loom, a shelf of yarn, and an accidental discovery that quietly changed everything.

I’m Lydia, a designer-maker based in North Cumbria, where the fells rise around you and the Solway sky feels endless. These landscapes live in every piece — not as literal translations, but as remembered light, shifting colour, and the feeling of a place that stays with you.

I discovered weaving at the University of Huddersfield and was completely taken by its quiet alchemy: counted threads and careful tension becoming cloth that can hold warmth, memory and meaning. That balance between structure and emotion still sits at the heart of my practice.

Weaving is an ancient language, and heritage is always present at the loom. I use traditional processes to carry bold colour, geometric rhythm and a distinctly contemporary energy.

Memory is the starting point for everything I make. A deep Cumbrian blue, a Scottish sunset, moss after rain, moments translated into cloth to be lived with. From there, the story continues with you, as the textile softens, travels and gathers its own history.

Wool connects it all. It comes from the landscape and, in time, returns to it. Renewable, biodegradable and full of life. Nothing is made to be temporary; everything is made to belong to a larger cycle.

LH Woven Designs brings together place, process and memory - making cloth that feels alive with where it has come from and open to where it will go next.
