About

LH Woven Designs began in 2019 with one loom, a shelf of yarn, and a moment that refused to stay small.

I’m Lydia, a designer-maker based in North Cumbria, where the fells rise around you and the Solway sky feels endless. That landscape runs through everything I make — not as a direct translation, but as colour, rhythm and the feeling of a place that stays with you long after you’ve left.

I discovered weaving at the University of Huddersfield and was completely taken by its quiet alchemy — counted threads and careful tension becoming something that can hold warmth, memory and meaning. That balance between structure and instinct still sits at the centre of my work.

Weaving is an ancient language, but that doesn’t mean it has to feel quiet. I use traditional processes to carry bold colour, geometric rhythm and a distinctly contemporary energy — something a bit more expressive, a bit less expected.

Memory is where everything begins. A deep Cumbrian blue, a Scottish sunset, moss after rain — moments translated into cloth to be used, worn and lived with. From there, the story shifts. The piece becomes yours, softening, travelling and gathering its own history over time.

Wool connects it all. It comes from the landscape and, in time, returns to it. Renewable, biodegradable and full of life — but more than that, full of possibility.
This isn’t wool as something of the past. It’s wool reimagined — full of history, but just as much about beauty, style and how we live now.

Nothing is made to be temporary. Everything is made to be kept.

LH Woven Designs brings together place, process and memory — creating pieces that feel alive with where they’ve come from, and completely open to where they’ll go next.

Run Scarf
£160.00

The Run scarf is part of the ‘Recollection’ collection. Brilliance and fun exude from this design, amplified by the distinctive repeats of a playful pattern and striped texture. The distinctive use of wool woven together in short runs creates a luxurious scarf that has a myriad of textures.

Made by hand and woven in the studio, the double cloth technique allows for the scarf to be reversible. The delicate Merino lambswool forms a versatile cloth that is the perfect sustainable companion to any wardrobe.

  • Each scarf has a completely unique design.

  • 100% Merino Lambswool

  • Hand-made & hand-finished

  • Approx 24x170cm.

The story behind the collection

The Recollection Collection utilises the concept of drawing without conscious thought. This collection is bursting to the brim with colour and each design has a signature bold style of urban geometric. To add depth and complexity, each piece is woven using a double cloth technique.

The design of each scarf is based upon the childhood memories of listening to Ludovico Einaudi’s classical compositions. Each hand-crafted piece is an expression of how this distinctive music enveloped key moments of my childhood.

Emotion encapsulates our memories and shapes our future. Within this collection, I wanted to capture the true emotion felt whilst listening to Einaudi’s music. My intention was to create an item that has the ability to connect with and become part of the world, making the cloth tangible and everlasting.

Le Onde Scarf
£130.00

The Le Onde scarf is part of the ‘Recollection’ collection. This playful design takes inspiration from the idea of memories. The vibrancy and simple use of primary colours reflect the memories of joy and innocence from my own childhood. Interwoven within the cloth are strands of yarn to create a depth and strikingly energetic pattern that, like a memory, evolves and develops.

Made by hand and woven in the studio, the double cloth technique allows for the scarf to be reversible. Each scarf is delicately soft from the use of Merino lambswool, making it a staple for those cold and frosty mornings.

  • 100% Merino Lambswool

  • Hand-made & hand-finished

  • Approx 28x170cm.
